"Hi, I'm chef Michelle 'Mishy' Powell — owner and creator of MISHY'S, a local eating house in the heart of Surry Hills, built on a passion for seasonal produce, community connection and bringing people together through food."

With more than 20 years of experience in the food industry, Mishy has worked both locally and internationally as a private chef and in some of the world's most respected restaurants. Her career has taken her across continents, but her philosophy has always remained the same: great food starts with exceptional ingredients.

At MISHY'S, that philosophy comes to life through simple, beautiful dishes that celebrate the seasons and the incredible growers, farmers and producers who make them possible. Every week, Mishy visits Sydney's markets to hand-select the freshest produce, allowing the menu to evolve naturally with what's available and at its best.

MISHY'S is built on a love of uncomplicated, nourishing food. We champion locally sourced, sustainable ingredients, healthy cooking and traditional home-style meals that bring comfort, connection and joy to the table.

We believe the simplest food is often the most memorable. By focusing on seasonal produce, thoughtful cooking and reducing waste, we're proving that going back to basics can be downright delicious.

From Naturally Sauced to MISHY'S

MISHY'S began as a small, passion-driven business called Naturally Sauced.

What started with Michelle "Mishy" Powell travelling between farmers' markets and specialty food stores, sharing her handmade sauces with the local community, quickly grew into something much bigger. Many of our guests first met Mishy at their local market, chatting about food, flavours and the importance of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

As the Naturally Sauced community grew, so did the vision. What began with jars of sauce shared across market stalls evolved into a welcoming space in the heart of Surry Hills — a place where people could gather around the table and enjoy the same values that inspired those very first recipes.

Today, MISHY'S Restaurant continues that journey through seasonal menus, wholesome food and genuine hospitality. While much has changed since the market days, our philosophy remains the same: celebrate local produce, support community, and bring people together through honest, delicious food.

From market stall to restaurant, every dish we serve carries the spirit of Naturally Sauced — simple, generous and made with care.
